Southern Diversified Products, LLC (SDP), located in Mississippi, USA, in cooperation with the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) has developed and marketed the Mythic Paint and American Pride® family of paints. The researchers at USM develop high performance polymers that provide benefits to both the end user and the environment. Southern Diversified Products (SDP) provides a commercial outlet for USM innovations by licensing their technologies thus providing a future revenue stream for the University.
Sales agents of SDP are compensated for their services by sales commissions. SDP's commission plans were quite complex as they had to accrue commissions till receipt of final payment for invoices raised; provide overrides to more than one person; use credit memos to reduce / retain the revenues, etc. They had different commission rates for agents. They also had other unique needs such as ignoring the first orders for commission processing.
Entering and manipulating the data by applying these rules to distribute the compensation using Excel became tedious and painful for SDP. The Chief Financial Officer of SDP researched in the market place for sales commission software to automate their sales commission process. He identified QCommission as a potential solution to their spreadsheet nightmares and in consultation with their compensation administrator from Global Business Processing Inc. decided to implement QCommission for their sales commissions automation.
The QCommission implementation team worked with SDP's compensation administrator and bookkeeper, Global Business Processing, Inc to setup the plan configurations and integration between SDP's QuickBooks company data file and QCommission for commission processing. During the demonstration and parallel run of the commission process, the implementation team assisted in accommodating the changes and verification of results. Upon completion of the testing and training period, Manju Malhotra compensation administrator for SDP was able to add additional payees, make changes to plan configuration and import invoices from QuickBooks to QCommission for sales commission calculation.
